Visit to a Mayan community

From: $99.00

Have you ever wondered what a temazcal ceremony is like? And what did the ancient Indians eat? You will discover these and many more experiences on this visit to a Mayan community.

Itinerary

We will pick you up at your hotel in Riviera Maya at the indicated time and head towards the heart of the Mexican jungle. Are you ready to spend an authentic Mayan evening? We will visit a Mayan community where we will learn about the lifestyle of its inhabitants, as well as the ancient traditions that they have continued to live with since ancient times. As soon as we arrive, the indigenous people will welcome us by guiding us on a tour of their village.

Afterwards, they will show us what their daily life is like and we will attend a workshop in which we will learn how to make Mexican tortillas. Afterwards, we will see the Mayans celebrating a fire ceremony and we will participate in the temazcal, one of their rituals of worship to Mother Earth. It is a volcanic stone steam bath with which you will purify your body.

Later we will go to a cenote, a place that the Mayans considered sacred. Here you will have time to take a dip in its crystal-clear waters. Then, we will put the finishing touch to the evening with a typical Mayan dinner, which we will accompany with a refreshing glass of hibiscus water.

We will conclude the visit by taking you back to your hotel at around 10:30 p.m.
